Tax preparation & planning

Are you taking advantage of the most recent tax credits and incentives offered by the Federal and State governments? Are you missing deductions you are entitled to? Are you getting the most money back?

Returns prepared and e-filed

In the complex world of taxation and an ever-changing myriad of tax laws, a good accountant is essential to sorting it all out. Whether it is tax planning for a small business or making sure you capture the credits and incentives available to you, I will work my hardest to help you achieve both your business goals and your personal financial objectives.

  • Non-profit Form 990

Filing policy

Tax returns will not be e-filed (or paper filed, where applicable) until both of the following have happened: all e-file authorization forms are signed and dated by the taxpayer(s) and received by CGK Accounting Services, and payment in full is received by CGK Accounting Services.

One piece of advice for every tax client

Never pay an amount due on a letter from the IRS or a state taxation department until you talk to your accountant. The IRS will frequently impose an amount due that includes interest and penalties you very well may not owe. Always speak to your accountant first — and for my clients, that call is free.

Tax FAQ

Questions I get every season

What kinds of tax returns do you prepare?

Individual returns, self-employed and sole proprietor returns, corporate returns for both C corporations and S corporations, partnership returns, non-profit Form 990 returns, and the annual filing of W-2s and 1099s.

I got a letter from the IRS saying I owe money. Should I just pay it?

Not before you speak with your accountant. The IRS and state taxation departments frequently assess an amount due that includes interest and penalties you may not actually owe. Have the notice reviewed first — for my clients, that review is free.

When exactly will my return be filed?

Once all e-file authorization forms are signed, dated and received, and payment in full has been received. Both conditions have to be met before a return goes out.

Are you authorized to e-file?

Yes. CGK Accounting Services is certified by the IRS as an authorized e-filing firm and is registered as a tax return preparer with both the IRS and New York State.

When are my returns and payments due?

Personal income tax returns are due April 15, corporate returns March 15, and non-profit Form 990 returns May 15. A full list of sales tax, payroll tax and estimated payment deadlines is on the resources page.
